well, what are we supposed to do? it's not the first time something like this has happened and we all know it's not gonna be the last, in a few days everybody will forget like they forgot 10 years ago

i'm sure neither gaga or anyone on her team cares, 'cause really no one is taking this serious, all we can do is grow thicker skin, relax and make fun of the fact :yennefer:

Swine is about rape. That’s why she used vomit for this performance. Because of how sick it made her when she was taken advantage of when she was 19. So no she didn’t just have a “fetish for vomit”

To me this is one of those cases where the intention and meaning behind it is good, but the presentation of it leaves it open for people to feel differently about it.

I fully support her right to, as an artist, express her feelings and emotions in any way that she sees fit. However, I also fully support anyone who has ever struggled with eating disorders being able to express that this performance is upsetting to them. Unfortunately, one side of that seems to get more support than the other.

I believe it is possible for both things to be true at once: that is a powerful statement on her own personal feelings and a depiction of something triggering that was handled without due diligence.

My feelings on this performance have evolved over time. I was upset with it when it happened, but over time I've come to realize that it isn't my place personally to feel one way or another.

What has not changed however is my disappointment in the rush that some Monsters get into to defend the performance while at the same time diminishing, even if unintentionally, the valid points and concerns that people who've survived EDs have raised with it. I believe it should be defended, but not at the expense of people who genuinely struggle with what is depicted and that's often how it turns out.

Not that does not include these insane Republican weirdos, I mean the normal, intelligent people who've raised issue with this for non-political and conspiracy reasons.

I guess you’re right… I’d rather have just ignored it tbh. However, them calling Gaga a groomer is new, and very weird. “Young Girl” both Gaga and Millie are born in 86 like 😭😭

The guy who tweeted that is literally a SAer tho so lmao

Honestly, I would do anything to go back in time and see that whole performance in person. They should have posted the part where Gaga and Millie are riding the giant bull too 🙄

I'm best when I'm in love, and I'm in love with you

No, I agree, it should be ignored.

I get why fans would have had picked fights with them back in '13-16 (I would have probably done so, too, or found it a bit funny), but there's been an increasingly terrifying right wing extremist movement and having them target Gag isn't good for her even if some of the **** is amusing in a darkly comic way (implying she's a groomer for the girl who is the same age as her, etc.). Like I genuinely wouldn't put it past these people to try and hurt Gaga....thank god she has security. These QAnon freaks might also target Gag's sister, etc., because they do that to other celebrities they think are 'deep state' or whatever crap they throw at them.

It's a weird paradox. The world has moved more to the left in the past decade (BLM, trans rights, gay marriage, etc.), but at the same time there's also been a growing, hardcore, extremist ring wing movement. The right wingers in the past (I'm not talking like Jim Crow time, but in the 2000s) didn't terrify me as much as the right wingers of the past few years.

Honestly yes, to every word of this. All I have to add is thank god she’s sensible and never released that music video 😅

These are the same UK conservatives that go on vacation to my country and wreak havoc and throw up in every corner for their extreme drinking. I now get why they freak out whenever they see this girl doing the same on stage

I honestly just gain joy from seeing them call gaga whatever they want.. They do not matter to me, they are horrible people themselves. People like them always had haunted Gaga for any single thing that is... Gaga. They do not do research aswell.

That part was also a star of the performance, it added to the message. Riding the moving bull, pressing random keys on the piano with her feet, more vomiting, it is art.

What’s funny is when the conservatives are like “why is no one talking about this???” Someone will go “bc it happened 9 years ago…”

and they’ll be like “well cancel culture goes back so why can’t this???”

Like I’m sorry but these people are so deranged lmao like legit there are people who just shouldn’t be on the internet or socials bc they’re so susceptible to or already were this crazed American conservatism. Like the OG tweet is even like “Gaga gets a YOUNG GIRL to throw up on her.” Fr? Who watches that and is like yeah that’s little Susie snowflake plucked right from Middletown America by Lady Gaga and Doritos :laughga: they’re very clearly close in age. It’s just so weird and sad that people waste their lives getting made to be mad over just, honestly, bullsh*t that has no weight.

though I did like the occasional dude being like, “ok damn punk’s coming back” lmaooo

I can totally see where this is upsetting to watch. I mean, Gaga knew this wouldn’t be a beloved performance, you know? Lmao I think my thing is that it doesn’t quite go far enough for me to be like yeah this needs to be discussed unlike the DWUW stuff. Like I think this is a situation of “it can be ignored and knowing she had EDs as well i find it easy to do so."

not telling you how to feel or anything of the sort but that's been my experience with this performance. I think had the statement of intent been more specifically around EDers then I’d be a bit more like oh uhhh
