If anyone comes close to MJ today, it's Beyoncé, imo. But really, his name and legacy are so huge you have to compare him to groups of artists.

Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, and Gaga kind of encompass his artistry well, I think. Black excellence (save Gaga, obvi), dedication to dance/rhythm as an art form, signature style, constantly elevating and innovating the craft, and being great people on top of it all.

Taylor sells for sure. I like her music and she seems like a chill lady, but she's nowhere near MJ, let's be real. Even if she somehow surpassed him in commercial success someday, she has no hope of coming close to his level of influence and the heights of his icon status.

And that's no shade to her, MJ just literally is above everyone else
