Neither of which were hits or career defining. StrawberryBlond 14,900 Posted February 9, 2023 Share Posted February 9, 2023 Look, I know there's nowhere near as many female rappers but to feature just 5 of them is outrageous, there's at least 7 more names I can think of who deserve a place over some of these guys. Not to mention, there are women who are much more successful and relevant than some of these men. I'm not a fan of her actual music but to not have Megan Thee Stallion there when she's one of the most adept female rappers is insane. I know the list is perhaps based on names who have been around for years and stood the test of time, but success and critical acclaim regardless of duration in the industry has to count for something. The fact that they made sure to feature at least 1 women in each batch of 10 is very telling, it's like they're there merely as tokens so no one complains about sexism. It just goes to show we still have a long way to go with female representation, no matter what people say. It bugs me so much when men respond with "there just aren't as many women choosing this career path" or "the women just aren't as good as the men" to validate lack of female representation when the numbers of females in the industry and the level of respect they're commanding would tell you otherwise. It's like the Grammys a few years ago when barely any women won awards and the chairman of the academy said women just need to step up. And womankind the world over rolled their eyes and responded with "We've been stepping it up since the dawn of time! But you still hold lesser men above us!" Nicki doesn’t have ghostwriters, plenty of her collaborators have confirmed this and in fact it’s known that she has written for other people.
