Republicans so called "allyship" may not be sincere but if it stops our rights from being abolished, and stops the insane stigma and hate and violence against lgbt people, then yes it is needed. Soooo many of yall living in progressive neighborhoods have really forgot how much the rest of the world is still violently homophobic and any form of support is needed.

One thing I have learned is to never trust right wingers, they will always find a way to remove your rights and discriminate against you. In the UK, a previous PM was “progressive” for LGBT+ rights now they are doing everything to stamp our LGBT+ people in the UK and actively vetoed a bill that would make trans lives easier.

Isn't the take from this to judge politicians on their current actions, not what they've done in the past or say they'll do in the future

But living in society are not like that. your extremity is as dangerous as the party you hate tbh.

Do you realize without people like Romney, who are a bit more sensible compares to people like Marjorie Greene, we wouldn't have enough vote to legalize gay marriage or such since those stuffs are bipartisan?

Literally you are forgetting Romney is still part of that party and ran for president, and supported George Bush who tried to federally ban same sex marriage.

I don’t disagree that they’re terrible but we NEED their allyship if anything is to get better. We can’t get by on Democrats and liberals alone. They don’t have a large enough majority to overcome Republican pushback on their own. We have to have some Republicans on our side. There is no other option. 

If you want things to stay horrid for LGBTQ+ people then you can reject all Republican help. If you want change, you’re going to have to accept the ones we can get.
