However, her songwriting does not impress me at all on this record... on the contrary, I feel like her first album was better in this regard and even so, that does not say a lot. There are so many cliche lyrics and basic phrases and ideas we’ve heard before, it really brings down the quality of her work imo. I think she should focus more on storytelling and learning how to construct lyrics that feel more evolved and sophisticated. I know this is basic pop music and trust me I adore that, even this album has been on constant repeat since it came out, but I believe she has the potential to achieve something a little bit more meaningful that would make her be taken more seriously as an artist. I think her melody composing capabilities are great tho, she really knows how to write a catchy tune, but I want to see her push herself a little bit more, especially as I said, lyrics wise.
