I'm glad she said this. The amount of ageism, misogyny and hateful comments about her looks she receives by the public and media is downright exhausting and disgusting. I see plenty of it here too unfortunately.

I honestly feel bad for the treatment she gets for her age. That's the reason why I have replaced her image on all my social media to an AI version of Me. I don't want to feed into the ageism she goes through, it's definitely not right and I regret ever using an aged image of her before.

Unpopular opinion: Madonna would be more of a trailblazer (now) if she didn't conform to the 'beauty' standards of today. Madonna is 64 yet clearly wants to look much, much younger. She has changed her face almost beyond recognition and I personally find it sad that she has done that. She is/was an icon of individuality, strength and being true to oneself. She is now sadly one of the best/worst examples of someone desperately clinging onto 'youth' and stereotypical 'beauty' (ie - no wrinkles, inflated lips etc) in a way that looks desperate and silly.

There is NO DOUBT that Madonna has been subjected to gross ageism and misogyny for most of her career. It is just sad to see that that has - perhaps inevitably - taken a toll on her self-esteem and self-worth, so much so that she has physically transformed (not just enhanced) her natural appearance. I genuinely feel for her because she most likely has body dysmorphia, just like MJ did. I wish she would get help and not surround herself with appeasers who are encouraging her to walk down a path of shame... instead of self-acceptance.

The thing is, Madonna is beautiful. As she aged, she looked even better. She looked powerful. She has always been so physically fit - she can dance, she can sing - and there is no doubt that at 64 she can still do all of that. So why try and 'de-age' herself? Why not be a trailblazer and OWN being a pop superstar in her mid-sixties who can still sell out stadiums and have the cultural relevance most artists could only dream to have. I know why she doesn't want to do that... but she should. The Madonna most of us fell in love with is the Madonna who released this MV at 47 and proud. I wish she would've kept that energy and attitude as she continued to age.

it's kind of tragic how people trashed her for being "old" and still making "young" music in the early-late 2000's and today people wonder why she's obsessed with looking younger.

Unfortunately, she will never win in terms of public perception. We've seen this many of times throughout her career.

People made fun of her in the early 80s for being "pudgy". She got fit in the late 80s/early 90s, some people made fun of her physique and called her "manly". In the 2000s/2010s, she aged, as all of us do, and people began to poke fun at her being/looking "too old". She got cosmetic procedures in the last couple of years, and no surprise, people have continued to make fun of that. It's a vicious and stupid cycle.

Unfortunately, most people (outside of her fanbase) will only treat/remember her differently once she is gone. Like most icons, she deserves to be celebrated while she is still with us for what she has done for pop culture/women/the LGBTQIA+ community.

Simply because she wants to? I respect all opinions, but I all care is hers. And I really dislike this patronizing posts... I am sure she knows what she wanna do with her body better than you

Her personality has always been a little too cocky for my taste, but….

This woman has been so important for culture. She was the first major pop female to advocate and promote the normalcy of homosexuality and celebrate the art that came from the gays. She took up for homosexuality in interviews during the height of the AIDS pandemic when NOONE else would. She was a major player in women being just as openly and unmapologetically sexual as men. And she took all abuse for it. Now she is fighting against Ageism.

I do not like the work she has had done, it’s very unnatural looking. HOWEVER- that is her body, her choice. She is right- 45 shouldn’t be the end of a person’s life when it comes to expressing themselves visually, and we shouldn’t write people off after 45.

What she is doing is what she has always done. Changing how culture sees and reacts to different issues. It’s always a hard pill to swallow at first, but she willl be heavily regarding and respected for all of her influence.
