Statement from instagram

madonna t Edited. 42m

It was an honor for me to Introduce.

Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys. I had wanted to give the last award which was Album of the year, but I thought it was more important that I present the first trans- woman performing at the Grammys- a History making moment!! And on top of that she won a Grammy!!

Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone's face!!

Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in.

A world that refuses to celebrate women pass the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.

I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I'm not going to start. I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.

In the words of Beyonce " You-won't break my soul",

1 look forward to many more years of subversive behavior -pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy -and Most of all enjoying my life.

Bow down bitches!

like i said in another thread, what she does to her face or whatever is not anyone’s business and likely stems from body dysmorphia. since when it making fun of other mental illnesses bad, but dysmorphia is something people can all point and laugh at?

She's absolutely right.

In the general public, and the pop world especially, people love to throw out whatever they like about her for a multitude of reasons. I understand she's not to everyone's liking and there things about her people don't like. I get it 100%. But that does not and never has granted anyone the right to say the things about her that they say. People can say "oh she's a celebrity, she's inviting it" but that's such a backwards mentality to have.

Celebrities are human beings just as anyone else. Being a celebrity doesn't take away the deep emotional and mental toll that constantly being told you look ugly, you're too old, etc. take on you. She keeps her head up through it sure, but she wouldn't comment on it if it didn't bother her.

She got work done. So what? Who cares? Why does it matter? Who does it hurt? It's her body, she can do whatever the hell she wants to with it.

It's not even just her. People are going to do this to Gaga when she reaches a certain age. Hell, they already are. Women in this industry will be thrown to the dogs once they reach a certain age and that's a conversation that people wanna have and something people want to end...unless it comes to Madonna it seems. It's always open season on her.

And for the record, she looks beautiful.

Oh, and just to show how long she's been subjected to this. She was 34 when this was published.

I've found a recent new love for Madonna. I've only ever known the singles and it took me a LONG time to come around to her because of the way she came for Gaga in that one in interview (I was like 14). I still have a lot to learn about her but on the surface all I see is a badass, a fearless strong woman that pushed boundaries and wasn't afraid to stand up for the lgbtq community back in the day. Anyway I don't know what I'm trying to say, I guess I admire her, I admire how she has been able to reinvent herself time and time again through the years and constantly makes a point to not shy away from controversial topics.

She isn't afraid of getting older she embraces it and that's real. I'm excited to learn more about her discography and videography and watch more interviews and stuff.

Thankfully @Future Lovers has made it very easy for me to get started on my Madge journey.

Team Madonna. I feel bad for her because she has to deal with all of this crap, but she'll come through it even stronger. There is such a double standard for male and female performers. She'll be fine and the concert will FIRE!!

All that hate she still recevies when she released a song that says "finally, enough love". I guess it will be relevant when she's dead.

I will likely never like this woman but anyone who goes for her because of her face or age is just an idiot :laughga:

Long life to the queen, she's 100% right and is very sad how everyone laughs at her when she does something that another 60+yo artist wouldn't dare to do and those edited photos are terrible, she's a free woman!

Also: I know maybe it's off topic, but I hope she lets her fans know that criticizing a woman for her physical appearance is not it on 2023, especially when you're a (bitter gay) MAN.
