misanthrope 15
This whole burqa thing is stupid. I can't stress enough how lame I think it is lol
Benjamin Monk 0
Gaga can wear whatever she wants to wear, if she wants to wear a burka then she will she don't have to be a muslim
australiagaga 28
Only Gaga can get away with wearing a bedazzled pink burqa :legend:
drinkmytears 2,332
Well Gaga is that ignorant. Yeah, her eyes are not covered, so.. Do you even go here?
Swando 300
I really don't see the big problem about this. Usually Muslim's only get offended if you make fun of some of their core beliefs which i don't reallly see Gaga does here.
Mix 1
Well actually the muslim ladies wearing the Niqab or Burqa that you stated here is to close their 'aurat' . In Muslim aurat is A MUST to close . So you guys get the idea that is not a good idea to wear TRANSPARENT NIQAB
Mills 446
If this would be the lead single of ARTPOP, I'd not mind it. As long as hear lead single would re-capture the immense support of the GP once again. It's also been a long time since she topped the Pop Songs chart, her once biggest supporter back then. EarnYourLeather 231
I said a tad more on the generic side. In content at least. That's why it became a hit. Burqa can be catchy as **** but it will not be a hit in the same vein as BR because of its title alone. I don't make those rules, that's just the way it is. I totally agree with you. It is a tad generic. That's not necessarily a bad thing for a POP star. She needs to create music that reaches the masses. GaGa fans just can't admit that sometimes to themselves. I really hope she's not going down the route of religion again. "My n3xt sinGl3 izz 'Burning Bibles in my Burqa'"
VforVendetta 2,024
i have said this before but many women DO feel liberated when wearing a burqa - they feel free from judgement because no one's looking at their faces, no one's judging them based of their looks. i read a book recently where the main character wears a burqa and feels happy that no one is able to look at her, and judge her from knowing who she is, who her family is, her background, etc. and again, gaga could simply be doing this because she likes burqas. Maybe
tiffa 169
But you see, it doesn't mean that you are liberated if you take your clothes off. Many muslim women feel liberated as they don't need to be judged everyday based on how they look like, how trimmed bodies' are , they don't have the pressure to always ''look good'', to be just s-x objects for men to drool over or comment negativly about their looks etc. Take a look at this story: http://lauraofarabia...liberating.html Also when you talk about rights, some western european countries are working on laws to BAN the RIGHTS of muslim women to cover up! Isn't that insane? You want to FORCE on western believes and morals in BOTH muslim lands and christian/western lands, and muslims shouldnt have any say in it? How is that fair? As, I said, Gaga and generally western people don't know much about it, have lots of stereotypes and prejudices and it wouldn't hurt to do some research. And another thing comes to mind ( I will probably get stoned for this), US army have actually killed many women in niqabs and burqas (in Afghanistan and Iraq) and their children and just called it collateral damage, maybe she should address that issue first. refference: http://abcnews.go.co...ory?id=15897098 http://ncronline.org...ht-afghan-women http://www.guardian....ties-statistics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_casualties_in_the_War_in_Afghanistan_(2001–present) You've made some great points here! I don't agree that the burqa should be banned but be it by choice. A lot of women would probably prefer to stick to tradition and continuing wearing them while other women may also feel liberated not to wear one. I've read that there are several countries that have banned it and others who still require it. It shouldnt be restricted or mandatory in any circumstances. There are some places though who have banned it, simply saying that a person cannot cover their face to hide their identity. They could have been a bull**** excuse to ban it, but I also see that point of view as well. Perhaps gaga should make a statement about it...a clearer one, that is. I just feel women should have a choice. That's liberation. I wasn't necessarily speaking in terms of stripping bare naked.
theMonster5 74
After the "Burqa" song come out, let's hope the Muslims won't riot like the movie "Innocence of Islam". I would be afraid to go to any Gaga function because of a possible suicide bomber. Remember the Islamic bombings on the train in Spain and the buses in UK? :eww:
