Woman commutes 1,600 kms daily

Every day Giuseppina Giuliano (29) gets up at 3.30 a.m., has breakfast and gets ready for work. But: She doesn’t work in Naples, but in Milan. She travels around 1,600 kilometers to work as head of an art school – 800 kilometers on the outward journey, 800 kilometers on the return journey. She described her daily routine to the “Corriere del Mezzogiorno”.

She still lives with her parents and takes the bus from the family home in Naples to the main train station. At 5:09 a.m. she boarded the high-speed train there.

After a drive of several hours, the Italian starts her shift at the Boccioni art school on Piazzale Arduino at 10 a.m. sharp. In the evening it goes back.

“I’ve never received so much attention,” she told Il Giorno. “I have to say that my work doesn’t bother me at all, nor does traveling by train,” she tells the newspaper – even though she says she has suffered from a lung disease since childhood.

The main reason for the insane commuting is the high cost of living in the northern Italian metropolis of Milan. There, the rent for a two-room apartment costs up to 1800 euros. But her monthly salary is only 1165 euros.

This sounds so much like something I would do...  I already do it but on a lesser scale, but still I prefer to sleep in my own bed no matter how far I have to travel.

How many hours does she spend on the train? If she's on there for like 13-14 hours with getting to the workplace etc. she has 10 hours left - let's say she works 8 (usually you also have a 1 hour break) so 9 then 1 hour left to sleep. I suppose she only sleeps on the train then?

One thing I learned in my GGD life is that people 90% of the times only read the titles.

But to answer your question, she takes the morning train at 5am, arrives in Napoli by 10am and stays there until 5pm. Takes the train back and is home by 11pm. So she has like 3 hours to sleep because she wakes up at 3 am... girl is high endurance.

Gurl she only makes 1165 euros a month... that's like $300 a week! All that travelling just for that much! Sounds more like a wage issue than a cost of rent issue. 

Between that and what Mother of Puppies pointed out, the story sounds a lil fishy and I wonder if she actually like stays with a BF in Milan some nights to make it easier or something lol

she could still live much loser in a small town or a village with drastically lower expenses

what? that's like a waiter salary (or less) in Milan... hmm too weird and nonsense- A 2 bedroom flat might cost 1.8k but I just checked and yoy can freaking rent a room for 500€ in milano and spend the weekdays there. Suspicious data
