I feel like I could confidently say those roads could stay 2 lanes each way if public transportation was built. But instead we build our country around cars rather than people. 

Perhaps but I was referring to Europe as well if you read my comment carefully. I used to live there

 

Transportation is more sophisticated (they also use round abouts too) but roads are still congested in many places

 

My point is u can take cars of the road or make them go more efficiently but if u use up that slack in just building fewer roads, u still end up with congestion cuz it offsets it...

 

So that's what I meant by I don't agree with too much roads. If u build less, u offset any gains in efficiency of fewers cars and better runs and u still end up with congestion regardless
