Fake fans triggered by ‘woke’ Pink Floyd's rainbow logo

Yesterday, on Facebook, the official Pink Floyd page unveiled a logo for the 50th anniversary of their album 'The Dark Side of the Moon,' prompting statements of grievance from members who believed the rainbow design was a nod to LGBTQ solidarity rather than the iconic record sleeve.

“Yeah, cuz I always hear Pink Floyd fans saying ‘I wish Pink Floyd was more gay,'” commented one person. “Sickening,” wrote another, who has also shared Covid-19 truther memes on his profile. “I used to listen for the music. But I’m done now. Gay propaganda being put into everything.”

The Rainbow Flag, created by artist Gilbert Baker, was first flown as a symbol of queer liberation at San Francisco parade in 1978. Pink Floyd released their eighth studio album, The Dark Side of the Moon, five years before, in 1973 — with cover art depicting light refracted through a prism to produce a rainbow. The late designer Storm Thorgerson intended it as a tribute to the band’s famous light shows.

Hadn't seen the cover art for a while. It's even more alike what they put out, the solid colours.

Maybe pink floyd aren't a gay band, but it had always been synonymously used as solidarity with LGBTQ due to it's general presence.

I saw that post yesterday lol and the comments were delusional, but it was good to see a lot of fans that even though the image was not relate to lgtbq they stated that if you consider yourself a pink floyd fan and you are homophobic or "antiwoke" you get all wrong wath their music is about, their music and lirycs are universal and can resonate with anyone.

lol i got a bunch of rock bands T-shirts and everytime i put on the pink floyd one people stare at it judging me, even if it dosnt have nothing to do with pride lol

my mom when saw the shirt for first time told me in spanish (ya me saliste vos con una maricon@d@) "now you are coming with a Fa***0try". I mean i am  but i dont have enough money get to get out of her house get. So i better not be suspicious.

Not “fake fans”, MAGA republicans with their lack of education about what “woke” means and their vendetta against people who take accountability, and their agenda against LGBTQIA. God forbid everyone be accountable for their actions and care about those around us. MAGA republicans are just terrible. 
 

And we all know the squeaky wheel wants to be greased, with a lot of the republicans, it’s internalized homophobia, transphobia, etc, they’re trying to run from the fact they’ve had such feelings of either attraction toward the same sex or about being out of place in their body, so they lash out towards the LGBTQIA community.
