It mainly discusses the infrastructure links that China is building to have easier acces to Europe through Central Asia, the Caucasus and Turkey. It goes into detail about each major project (which include road and railway segments, airports and sea transit routes) and highlights Turkey's pivotal role as a country at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. The main idea is that the war in Ukraine and instability in Iran put the spotlight over this project. At the same time, it mentions the shortcomings, namely the fact that such a project might stir instability (a corridor linking Azerbaijan with Turkey through Armenia is vehemently opposed by Iran who tries to prevent Azerbaijan having more influence over its Iranian diaspora, Russia could use its proxies in the Caucasus to disrupt this route and the project might lead to increased separatist feelings in Xinjiang Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
