RAMROD 117,019
"I no longer have enough in the tank" - an emotional Jacinda Ardern says she will quit next month as New Zealand PM. The 42-year-old said almost six "challenging" years in the job had taken a toll. Ms Ardern's final day as prime minister will be 7 February. New Zealand will hold a general election on 14 October. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-64327224 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

She focused too much on social issues and didn't crack the economic ones like high-living costs and house prices. IIRC, NZ is seeing a brain drain of people leaving because there are fewer opportunities for them there. In the grand scheme of things, she's likely leaving because her party is trailing behind the National Party/Conservatives. That may give the party a bump to help, though it's unlikely. It's not a job u wanna be doing on behalf of so many if ur mental state is no longer in a good place. Most politicians would be too proud to admit it tho! Natalia Kills 413
Good for her! I disagree with her leadership but she did a very good job at staying balanced and approaching challenges rationally. I think she was a bit like Canada's Trudeau. She marketed the country well and handled challenges that came up like covid, but pandered too much on social issues and ignored having harder discussions and solutions on the economic problems. The polls show her party slipping too. Still, it's always best to bow out when you want to, rather than being voted out by the people. Politicians of any side have a tough uphill battle when they're elected.
elijahfan 27,482
I don't know much about the way she actually handled things, but she's always come across as a respectful, pragmatic leader, and the way she's choosing to step down is a testament to that. More women in power please.
