Especially from an artist known for her incredible videography. Shocking really. In an ideal world, I always envisioned Gaga walking with her pastel pink iconic Joanne suit and guitar from the MR/John Wayne video. She’s walking down through the desert (away from the PI music video), through the countryside, until she gets to a small town (kind of similar to Tove Lo’s Glad He’s Gone but more chronological) and reaches a dive bar. Whilst walking with her guitar on her bag, she walks past various stages of her romance to Taylor: people kissing and in love, a couple arguing, one couple breaking up. Here it gets to the bridge/final chorus and cuts between her reaching the dive bar and performing to an empty dive bar, maybe there’s a few drunk guys on their own. It also cuts to the scenes in a grassy field in the rain, very much like her 2016 AMA performance, only now the classic Joanne pink suit is covered in dirt, blood, she’s crying but her guitar still works.
