but why not Beyoncé? or someone more iconic? i never understood why they picked Christina, she is very talented but not much of a pop culture icon. They had the queen, the princess, they needed another legend, only Beyoncé comes to mind of that time

Christina is an icon and Beyonce just released her solo debut in 2003.

But Britney and Christina together were the pop girls of the moment and were always paired together. I find it hard to believe that Christina was a second choice to JLo for that moment.

In 2003 Christina was next to Britney in terms of icon status. Obviously things have changed in the last 20 years, but it definitely made more sense for Christina to be there.
