Honestly I came to say that it's silly to say that but she made some points and I can understand how she feels. I think I'll never be able to understand American "culture".

Has nothing to do with the specific "American" culture. It happens in entertainment business in most countries and it's very common/normal.

Funding for research on psychopathy and mental illness, empathy towards victims and impact on community, etc.

I didn’t hear anything about that happening in his speech as a direct result of the series, so I can see how the victim had an issue with the statement.

Lmao. Or I just know how to separate real life events from a TV show. Also, you're acting as if I'm in some kind of sick minority, as if the show wasn't trending, taking number 1 spot on Netflix for weeks and being praised by everyone. Liking a TV show =/= liking or supporting real life events being depicted.

I'm not acting like you're in a minority at all. where did I ever say that?

liking this TV show literally equals being entertained by actual horrible events. seeing it played out (however fantasized and glamorized) knowing the actual family is disturbed by this, DEFENDING IT ON HERE. that's literally sociopath behavior. you can pretend you're just "telling it like it is" all you want, but you can't hide that you're disgusting for supporting this.

Addison Rae

clearly some of you haven’t suffered any type of death or tragedy in your life because the lack of empathy im seeing in defence of a tv show is alarming

I’m sick of countless documentaries and shows being made on serial killers, purely from the profit point of view, without regards to the victims, and glamorizing the criminal as if they are some sort of hero, even putting their face pictures everywhere around. It is sick, and producers and actors and society as a whole have moral duty to prevent that.

having said that, I don’t think an actor playing a character should be ineligible for getting an award because the character is a monster. This is irrelevant.  but the portrayal of the story, the victims and the criminal should have strong moral grounds, especially for a sensitive subject like this that can play into the minds of many young people.
