SwissMonster 29,038
Some of his recent projects might be a little weaker but he shaped so much in the TV industry, pushed boundaries and always was inclusive in everything he did. Totally deserved. And him giving Mj her moment is beyond beautiful SwissMonster®️ - Creating controversy since 1999
Railing 2,405
Slightly bittersweet to see him at this point after everything that went on with Glee in particular, i.e. • Antagonizing Dianna Agron, running her character into the ground, punishing her for implying her character was bi/gay, making fun of her on one of his shows, and excluding her from the Cory Monteith memorial episode. • Threatening cast to tour, despite them being overworked and getting very little time to rehearse. • Bullying actors in the script, most notably Chris Colfer in an scene where Naya's given an entire monologue shittalking him for his dancing, his smile/appearance and mannerisms, and (indirectly) for the episode he wrote 1 season prior. He cried during filming and Naya was made to feel bad for it. Early episodes also bodyshamed Cory, among others. • Constant biphobia on the show; characters openly dismiss bisexuality and at one point an unwarranted joke is made that Brittany (the only bi character) might "stray for penis" from her sapphic relationship. Ryan didn't want her to be bi and that was the decision of another co-creator. And then there's the Dahmer show that many perceive as exploitative, including the families of victims depicted. He claims he reached out to them, they've said he never did, iirc he promised a donation? or something of that nature, afaik it hasn't materialized. But he is a hardworker and made a lot of iconic TV + the gay/lesbian rep was groundbreaking. Conflicting feelings.

He is also gay, so the biphobia and body shaming is understandable. Now I’m conflicted.
