Africans and Asians are obsessed with Western cultures but no one ever blames them for cultural appropriation. It is made up sjw nonsense. Disagreeing with you on this. Cultural appropriation is a thing. Western culture has a lot of power, is pushed on other cultures, and is sold to the world. I wouldn't label those buying into what western culture is selling as cultural appropriation.
Chlorine 47,975
“Gwen Stefani is a trailblazer. She brought Harajuku style to the US mainstream at a time when it was uncommon to see ourselves and our culture reflected in the media as Japanese women. She helped open the doors for all of us.” –Scarlett Johansson
SarahYuko 1,002
Is the bigger problem not the whole issue of her trying to trademark "Harajuku" as her own? Legit asking, Idk the details yet.

Japanese people don't know what it's like to be a minority in their own country because there Japanese culture is just culture. They were never shamed for it or had to feel different. It's Japanese-Americans who experienced racism simply because they were living Japanese culture in America. So it's their right to feel protective of it when white Americans swoop in and try to make it things trendy they were always shamed for. So throw some light, you know any japanese-american that got offended by her?

Would you be a LAMB and explain? Gwen didn’t dye her hair black or do eye makeup to look different. She said she stepped into the Shinjuku district and fell in love with the outlandish and cute stuff they have. She fell in love with Kawaii culture before it was a big thing in the US. I will admit the HG’s being in the background was so crazy at the time but I can see how it’s offensive today. They Harajuku Girls are beloved by the fans. Jenny (Angel) even said she learned a lot from the other girls about her heritage. They were kind of like the Pussycat Dolls that weren’t Nicole. The Harajuku Girls were famous in their own right and I even met them at an autograph signing. They even had their own dolls! I never thought the kawaii influence was cultural appropriation. She was inspired by it, did her homework, and I don’t think she meant it to be a disrespectful thing. We have girls saying they are Harajuku Barbies while showing absolutely nothing referential to Harajuku. Gwen was inspired by the district, did her interpretation of it blended with her style, and cited it as inspiration. Have any of these journalists reached out to Maya, Jenny, Rino, or Mayuko?
