You can see which areas have the highest amount of gays. Part of me thinks this could be a bad idea to publish the information like this the way the UK did, so many people still have problems with gay people and this could trigger dangerous situation in those neighbourhoods by the bigots and homophobes and transphobes. Census are good to see what your population is "made of". The government can only cater to its population if they know what their population is. Unfortunately, I believe there's still a lot of people not being accounted for because they don't want to come out to their families (or others, or themselves) when filling out census. Also, as a side point, census are a much better way of catering to your population's racial needs, than to make them decide something on their official personal documents like they do in the US and Brazil. A lot of LGBT charities and advocates pushed for it to be a part of the census. At face value it might seem odd but it’s very useful when you compare it to the rest of the data in the census such as housing/rental prices. It can help them get a clearer picture of what struggles outside of discrimination that LGBT+ people may be facing and they can cater their help to it.
