I don't think it's a money thing for Taylor, I honestly think she just wants to break records and have the highest numbers as possible for her ego.

Her fans have shown her that they will buy something they already own, something they will never use, something they already have, etc. It's literally for the sole purpose of helping her achieve big numbers. 

I wonder if she will ever grow out of this mindset. It would be interesting and I bet the music would be deeper, more connected.
