He finally won :air: which is expected. But he's the first speaker in like 170 years to fail the vote this many times (not to mention the first in over a century to fail a vote at all). The concessions he made assures the house is going to be completely ungovernable in the next 2 years. A single member can make congress go back to a speaker vote :nooo: what a mess

Yup. We all knew he was winning eventually but the amount of power he had to give up basically means he's hardly a speaker at all :ladyhaha:

The fact that I learned he won from the trending section of my Giphy keyboard. What a time.

I see 2023 is picking up right where 2011 ended. Bloody Mary smashing. James Cameron's Avatar smashing. new animated Avatar:TLA series being worked on. House Republicans in complete disarray acting crazy while the Democrat majority senate and Democrat president look on at the train wreck.

Troubled times for the US. The next two years will be interesting, and God only knows what the 'tear it all down' crew will do around the 2024 elections. One thing they won't be doing is conceding defeat just because the other guys got more votes. I note Boebert and Biggs both claiming during this process to speak for the American people, at a time when they had 20 votes out of a possible 435.
