YouCanSitWithUs 394
Alright so before Chromatica I always knew Gaga would eventually come back to pop. But hearing her say that Chromatica was not even intentionally going to be pop at first has me thinking that Gaga really either A- does not want to do a pop album anymore or B - does not see herself as a "pop" artist anymore and wants to make stuff (that still is technically considered pop) but really different. I don't know....I just have a different feeling this time around and I'm not sure if we will ever get that "fully fleshed out pop era, single release, music videos, etc." pop album. I think that Chromatica was gonna be it and then COVID happened. Or I could be completely wrong and LG7 is a fun bubblegum slutty skanky pop record empowering women to get freaky and the lead single will drop at midnight. lol. who knows? Do you think Gaga will have another proper "pop era" or is she sailing off to different horizons. Or will she do both and consolidate pop on one side and the more serious stuff on another? (I personally can't see her doing this because I think at a certain point these two "sides" of her are gonna have to merge artistically).

M i K E Y 7,353
To me Gaga was never really „pop“ even if it was always considered as so. Gaga has always been different and mixes genres and influences that create the art she makes (if that makes any sense) maybe she will go less mainstream in the future. But that doesn’t mean we don’t get great music and if it’s „good enough“ it might even push new boundaries in music NO DUCT TAPE - NO MISSON
Noah 26,635
I don‘t think she‘ll ever leave Pop Music. I don‘t think she explicitly said „it wasn‘t going to be a Pop Album“, but there were some records (f.e. 1000 Doves and maybe Fun Tonight) that got turned into Dance Records with time. I mean the whole concept was dancing through the pain and some of Chromaticas earliest Songs were written + produced in late 2017/early 2018. She clearly still likes being a popstar or else she would‘ve cancelled the Chromatica Tour, did the whole Show with a Liveband at the Piano or not have signed a new Pop Residency. I do not know obviously if her next Era will be Pop, but I think the reasoning we‘re uncertain is because every Pop Album of Gaga in the past 10 years has been bruised somehow. ARTPOP was going to be a huge Pop Era as well, I mean look at them planning 3-4 Singles, Remixes, huge Performances etc. and then… nothing. Joanne‘s original Songs that were a return to Dark-Pop completely scrapped due to Bowies Death and then we had Joanne, which was not the Dance-Pop we knew and loved and then… Chromatica. I will be optimistic here and say - the next Album will be Pop. It may not be a full on Dance Record, it may dabble in a different genre, but I do not see her leaving Pop at all. She loves the theatrics, the performing way too much to leave it. The Focus and fun she has on stage when performing (especially in Replay) just showed me, that Pop-Gaga has never left. ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡
TEANUS 12,941
I don’t think she’ll ever stop doing pop. I had these fears pre-Joanne, then she delivered John Wayne, DIC, and The Cure, and again pre-Chromatica. I think we have to take into account her seemingly increased self-awareness. She seems a lot more empowered in the pop/ music industry overall now with The Chromatica Ball and even her speaking about how she needed reminded/ felt reminded during the making of Chromatica that she’s “Lady f*cking Gaga” British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
CatelynnMarie 4,266
Just by the title alone, I can say that I've been feeling this for a long time now. Ultimately, I think she'll always have some form of pop aspect to her music, but as far as a pop artist and creating constant pop music, I really have a genuine sense that we won't be experiencing much of that anymore (part of why it was absolutely vital to attend TCB for me as we might not see that side of Gaga again or for a long time). It could just be me, but there's just so many signs since 2014/2015 and especially 2016 that have led me to feel this way. At the end of the day, Gaga is an artist that now has solid different career paths she's on. Being a fan, especially now, really just means you're along for the ride and whatever project she gets involved in as an artist. Some might be your thing, some might not. I don't think we should feel too bad about it as we don't know what's to come. We don't know what she might get involved in and how it will be executed. A lot of us love pop music, especially pop-ga, and it's understandable if that's the only reason you (not you op, but in general) stan, to be nervous/ upset about the idea of this. Gaga is usually ahead of the curve and one way or another, her projects will either always be appreciated from the get go, appreciated in the moment, or not appreciated during release, but later on. It's sad, but also exciting as we will get to see a lot of new things. Actually, thinking about this whole topic, I was just watching a fan-made video situation on twitter and really noticed that there were A LOT of what would be considered camp in the Gaga world of her career in terms of the fashion alone (some of the gold, sphere headpieces were really reminiscent of the headpieces/ body garment Gaga wore during the Bad Romance era. Even during Poker Face with the backdrop of the BRIT award statue dancing, that was entirely camp and for the veteran stans.). In the vogue fashion video she did semi recently, she was talking about the met gala entrance art performance and how they wanted it to be camp, but in her/ their way as in, this was camp for Gaga and parts of her career in fashion. To me, this not only says, I have appreciated that time, and still do, but it's time to move on and create something new. In a lot of ways, there's so many signs everywhere that Gaga is not really saying goodbye forever, but is in a place now where she can kind of close the door on some past traumas and things, and can move on in a healthier way. She's still Gaga and always will be, and we might see pop-ga in full form again, I just feel like we won't be seeing it much soon. I could be wrong though as this is just my own gut feelings/ theories/ thoughts. Nothing is confirmation. It could even go the opposite direction where during that whole time period I mentioned at the beginning of the post through the creation of Chromatica and the pandemic, maybe she was able to close doors on problems she was having as a musician in the industry etc. It's also possible we could see MORE pop-ga due to this. We just don't know, however, my personal feelings still stand in the, we have officially moved into a whole new Gaga era in terms of her career and life entirely. The things we've always known might really change a lot. We can either be ready for it and embrace it, or move on. It depends on the person and their interests
AnglerfishbraBENUS 5,634
i have a feeling her next album is either going to be her most stripped back, most pop, or most experimental yet. all of which i am excited for, so i don’t care.
Aglaya 8,027
It's not like she's going to sing jazz forever, so it's pretty clear to assume she'll always make pop music. Joanne is usually considered to be a country album, which is not, so her only not-pop albums would be C2C, Love For Sale and maybe ASIB Soundtrack. She always creates pop music, so we don't need to worry about that. Maybe she's never going back to making a dance song, or an electronic record like ARTPOP, but that doesn't mean she's gonna leave pop music to rebrand into a rock musician suddenly. Every Gaga solo album has been pop music. could mean anything

Chromatica Island 8,517
I hope she does other genres, she said early in her career that she did not consider herself a popstar but a performance artist, so she has never just been pop to me, she is much more than a product to sell to the mainstream. holy scheisse 21,698
I highly, highly doubt she will never make pop music again. Pop music is the core of her brand -- not haus labs, acting, or jazz covers

Vicks 381
As long as she keeps making music Im fine with that.. I mean she will soon be 40 by 2026 so her we can't expect her to keep making dance music forever. I still hope and want her to have her own "emancipation of mimi" moment in the next few years
ChrissyBot 2,252
I’m really sick of fans wanting her to just do pop music and only dark pop. Like let her fvcking do different stuff if she likes. If she wants to do pop then so be it but if she wants to make LG7 heavy metal/rock or something other than pop then let her do that. I wouldn’t mind if she stops doing pop.
