if this is the case then why is Ari above Gaga...

Because the “depth of her genius” is more “transcendent” than Gaga’s… apparently :toofunny:

it makes even less sense now because MJ is at like number 86 when he obviously should be top 10 or top 20

Dunno if I’m going to get dragged for this, but then why is Whitney so high?

Magnificent voice, yes, but she didn’t have ‘much’ involvement in her music.

because involvement in the songwriting process is not the only criteria used for the list, there are so many other aspects that Whitney excelled at, and it's not just singing.

Don't pay them attention. They obviously wanted this controversy.

This. It's basically become clickbait central and/or a PR mouthpiece for certain labels.

Also, I used to follow a bunch of music journos on twitter. A few recently were hired by Rolling Stone...and the ones that were hired were insane and literally acted like stans sometimes on the bird app.

It's pretty cool that the top ten are all black. I don't think people acknowledge enough the impact of African Americans on not just US music but the global music scene.

Yeah I feel like so many black people are born with god given vocal technique and talent !!!!!!! Powerhouse vocalists

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

That’s African American culture for you. Without them and the history of the United States / the Americas almost none of the music we enjoy would exist today.

So is Beyonce and Rihanna. They really just need to provide a criteria, or blame and crucify some random intern there.

Plus rihanna is just a decent singer at best if at all so how is she even on this list  when she doesn't write either
