Did you watch Joker? Did you enjoy it?

I remember when it came out, everybody had different opinions about the movie, but I really like it. I love what they made us understand much more how society really is, and good people become "bad people", not because they want, but the trauma and people around them, made us to change.

I can’t wait to see the second part, especially that Gaga will play in the movie.

It takes a smart brunette to play a dumb blonde.

I also liked how well it portrays how tired life can make you when you’re poor. As cliche as it sounds, those Joker stand were onto something when they kept saying “we live in a society…” :ladyhaha:

I think what made the first one so popular was how it’s rooted in reality. I hope the new one has the same grounded quality to it. IMO if it’s total camp I’m not sure how well it’ll be received by the general public.

I think it's going to be camp for a real reason. Like the actual film won't be seriously a musical. Something about Gaga's mental health issues will make her Harley see things kind of in a wacky-obscure-fantasy. She is going to be psychotic. And real psychotic people clinically do not see things how they really are.

I don't really like superhero movies, but this one is special. It is a very real and sad depiction of how our society can drive people with mental and social problems really crazy.

In the sequel, I'm not worried about the script or Gaga's acting, but I think the musical part could be a hit or miss.

I watched it really late bc im not that into superhero movies to go out of my way to watch them (apart from the dark night trilogy)

but it wasn't a superhero type movie at all it was dark and seemed like a real life, real mental health version of the joker tbh

it was so good :firega:

I loved it. It was disturbing and Ieft the theater thinking about it. It rarely happens with movies but that was one of them. Yes the Scorsese influence is clearly there but it's still a great movie.

That quote has nothing to do with the movie tho; It was a meme long before Joker came out, and then it ended up being used not in that film but in Zack Snyder's Justice League

I loved it, as depressing as it was. It wasn't a superhero movie, it's a deep dive into a troubled man's pysche, a mirror to society's treatment of mental health issues and our need to attach themselves to causes and how we're led by social inclusion needs. I really disliked how some people said it was a glorification of incels because that's a modern concept that didn't exist in the time this movie was set and being an incel is a self-imposed identity (yes, you can be accused of being one but you're not one unless you personally identify with this community). It's such a basic way of looking at things and just shows how much we like to label. I'm a woman and even I could relate to Arthur in some ways. Just like him, I was dropped from my job mere months after watching this movie and I could totally understand that feeling of emptiness and hopelessness he felt, especially when you feel that if you didn't laugh, you'd cry. And boy, I don't think any of us victims of bullies didn't feel euphoric during that scene that followed. I think anyone who's ever been bullied, excluded, helpless or alone at some point in their lives will relate to Arthur to some degree. But hopefully, most of us find a way to get out of the dark place we're in and don't let ourselves be consumed by it to the point where we take our hurt out on others, like he did.

I'm so here for Gaga in the sequel. I won't lie and say that the idea of it being a musical is making me a bit nervous, however. It could be a very polarising experiment for Joker fans and the public at large. But I ultimately think the company knows what they're doing. I hope Gaga doesn't go down the same extent of method acting that she did when she played Patrizia and listens to direction well. That paired with slaying the vocals which we know she can do and Gaga's performance will get praise at the very least. If she was praised for carrying HOG, a movie where she didn't even sing, she can definitely carry a movie where she sings in addition to acting. I'd like to think that role is truly what made Todd Phillips stand up and take notice and realise she can do this. I have faith in her and maybe it'll be third time lucky for this acting Oscar.

I agree. It is a risk. But that's what makes it so special...Gaga is in a place where she can really take creative risk without her "career being in jeopardy". I sometimes think that us fans really want to keep pushing the Gaga narrative to get people to see how iconic she is, but, I've realized recently, especially with the cross generational successes she is seeing on Tik Tok and Spotify....we, as fans, can let go of the trauma that the media forced on her from The Fame to ARTPOP. She has proven herself now. She isn't going anywhere. If there was an actual list of the Top 100 UN-Cancelable Celebrities, Gaga would probably make it in the Top Ten. She is an established icon now and whatever happens with this Joker sequel will either be a funny weird experiment that goes right or a funny weird experiment that goes completely wrong....either way...we will get LG7 and LG8 and LG9 and LG10 and LG11 and LG12 and she will always be an amazing artists that has impacted the way music, visuals, art, and fashion was done. No one can take that away from her now. The woman has transformed into bulletproof.

I am not worried about Gaga's career at all, but I like watching great movies what I want watching again later. I would like the movie to be successful both artistically and commercially.

Lady Rah Rah

I loved how it shown the path that society can make people go down as a result of how they are treated and cast out due to mental health issues. And THAT scene with Murray at the end. Incredible.

Chromatica will live on forever.
