Canada's competition bureau and regulator which at first appeared reluctant to approve the merger and was seen as the final road block in a deal finally gave in a approved a $20 Billion merger with Rogers and Shaw. Tho a final approval from Innovations and Sciences is still required

 

 There's is major concern that Canada's Telecom industry which is highly monopolized and uncompetitive giving Canadians one of the highest cell phone rates in the world only goes further in the wrong direction with such a merger

I will never forgive the propaganda the telecom industry ran on ads like crazy to convince Canadians that if Verizon was allowed in Canada it would wreck havok in Canada and destroy Canadian Industries and convinced the Government to block their entry. God people are so gullible

 

First of all shareholders are from all over the place for both Canadian and American companies so neither side has a truly National Company and there's no fully "Canadian" telecom corps to compete against

 

Secondly competition to pressure the existing companies is exactly what we needed to bring prices to more reasonable level. God ppl are so stupid

False. It still requires approval from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.

I didn't know they hadn't gotten approval from them yet. But I do not believe that was seen as a road block and with the competition bureau out of the way it's essentially a done deal.
