I think the translated lyrics of Rosalia's Hentai really takes the cake. I don't get why this song got so much praise. I can only imagine that the listeners don't actually understand Spanish:

In a video she did for Genius, she spoke of the lyric about riding someone like a bike like it was a lyric she'd personally invented that needed explained, as if it wasn't a phrase that had been around for decades. And had to explain these lyrics as if they were so profound and she thinks they're subtley sexual as opposed to explicit. Her debut clearly proved she was a highly talented lyricst, so I don't know how she went from El mal querer, which was about such a mature expression of sexuality to this.

Admittedly, I was baffled by this line initially but then found it was a reference to the sitcom, 30 Rock. I don't know what the context is of the original quote but the fact it's a cultural reference changes things. I don't think it was in any way a super recognisible phrase for the public, at large, though, as everyone else seemed equally baffled and those who haven't researched it still do. I'm honestly surprised the intention of this lyric wasn't made loud and clear from the beginning as that's not a line that you want people misinterpreting.

Tbh as much as i love some songs overall, looking at the lyrics i'm glad that i'm able to totally exclude the meaning from the sound (same for any english songs, but i cant escape french lyrics ksks)
