The Skype Ball comes to mind lmao. Everyone was soooo sure some juicy ARTPOP info would be dropped

Also pre-ASIB many had accepted/ been convinced that her commercial peak was over and she'd never have a massive WW era again

The amount of us trolled by Brie Candy in 2020 into believing that four additional Chromatica videos (Sour Candy, Free Woman, Babylon, and one other I don't remember) had been filmed pre-COVID in early 2020

OH MY GOD the skype ball. That was the biggest meltdown I've ever seen on this site, with the Perfect Illusion and Joanne hate being the second. The Skype Ball really was the worst though. We were so spoiled with constant media from 2009-2011 that the media drought pre ARTPOP felt unbearable (although in hindsight we really were being fed a lot of content lmao). Everyone was convinced that she was launching the era, that we were finally getting some concrete info on the album, teasers or anything. And it turned out to be a generic interview with sloppy questions from non fans. I remember them asking something along the lines of what her favorite skype memory was and then the meltdowns began.

Another one that comes to mind was SXSW. The ARTPOP era had completely fizzled out by that point. I think that was the most disillusioned I had ever been as a fan. I loved the Swine performance but as a set it was rough to watch. Gaga was clearly high out of her mind, making some questionable choices (**** talking Applause, the country Bad Romance rendition :neyde:). It was a hard time to be supportive, especially considering the ARTPOP era went into complete radio silence after the Holiday season. OH and the random Jimmy Fallon performance. I think everyone wasn't ready to accept that the era was essentially over. People were still thinking that the next single, the next video, was around the corner. And then everything with the app too. It was the most pre-hype for a Gaga project I had ever seen, and it led to an incredibly underwhelming era. I think that might be why it's my favorite Gaga album. I feel like my stan card was forged in fire after being on this site daily from 2012-2014.

ALL of this 💯

SXSW honestly made me truly uncomfortable at the time lol, it felt really eerie and I think we just had no idea what to expect next. Some were even worried that the artRave tour was gonna fall apart

I remember thinking some artists from DOC was going to open for Gaga at the Chromatica ball in each place, and then all the collabs on the album would make a guest appearance at the shows :billie: oh how I was wrong :selena:

We have actually got a lot of things wrong, in retrospect:

- That the Chromatica tour was never going to happen (and that it wouldn't sell out when it did).

- That Gaga missed out on a major opportunity by cancelling the tour with Kanye West.

- That she'd never do a Vegas residency.

- That going the C2C route was going to alienate her fans and end her career.

- That it was a good idea to release the DWUW music video.

- That ASIB would flop (not all of us, but there were cynics).

- That Million Reasons was never going to go anywhere.

- That Applause was going to be bigger than Katy Perry's Roar if it just got promoted right.

- That she was going to be in Bullet Train.

- That 911 was going to a hit (I never got the love for this song from the beginning).

- That her performances in ASIB and then HOG were going to win her acting Oscars.

- That her days of #1's and major success was over post-AP (so glad to be wrong on this one).

Just goes to show, her team know what they're doing most of the time. Especially in recent years.

omg remember when we thought her vegas residency was the beginning of her retirement? little did we know she would be reaching a new career peak and winning an oscar in between shows of the first vegas leg.

i still think it could’ve been epic to release 911 with stupid love (especially after the stupid love leak) but to include the interlude on the single version. imagine the collapse of listening to that as one song.

in our defense, she was signed to bullet train but thank goodness it didn’t work out. sandra b was in the movie for less than three minutes lol. for now i think it’s way more epic that each of her movies are a big deal role wise for her. maybe after joker she can start doing small roles and more lowkey rom coms and such but
