That song is one of the best things ever written in the 21st Century. The music theory, melody, lyrics and production are genius.

Have you not heard Bad Romance? If not, it was released in 2009. :stalkga:

You misspelt Bad Romance sweetheart :huntyga:

Bad Romance is was cemented her as an absolute cultural phenomenon and you could argue as an icon/legend this early in her career.

I mean she already was a phenomenon with Just Dance, LoveGame, Poker Face and Paparazzi. But Bad Romance pushed this even further and meant she was here to stay... and thus the Fame Monster with its phenomenal world tour happened.

That song is one of the best things ever written in the 21st Century. The music theory, melody, lyrics and production are genius.

I am a member of the unpopular opinion club that BR is bigger than BTW but sometimes I think they might have equally incredible impact culturally

There was a period of time during 2009 -2010 that absolutely NOTHING on radio could come close to BR.

Then of course BTW took over. But she still always closed with BR. As her best song.

For me it’s hard to define Gaga’s number 1 as I think it’s a tie between Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance and Shallow

In 20 years, the most timeless Gaga hit will be miss Shallow. Mark me!

Somehow good movie songs have everlasting power

An interesting way of reacting to brute, immutable facts :iamfair:. Even Springsteen said he wished he had written BR.

Smother Em Eh

It does have a amazing instrumental, lyrics and melody. Just a pop perfection banger. Also the video is one of the best MV’s of any pop girl ever. With that said, I do think BR surpasses it in terms of iconiness. She really set the bar high with Bad Romance!

I watched a funny video where there’s a group of 6 guys and all of them are saying they’re gay but one of them is actually straight and they have to figure out which one is straight by asking each other questions. In the end the straight guy was caught because someone asked him what his fave Gaga song was and he said Poker Face. And it struck the others as odd, and one of the gays said to him, I don’t know a single gay whose fave Gaga song is PF. Also, the guy couldn’t name one song off of Chromatica, so he was outed as straight!  I thought it was funny but sort of true. I always think of Poker Face as one of her mainstream breakthroughs and think most fans like her later stuff or deep cuts. HOWEVER, I love PF and Just Dance to this day so I’m not judging anyone at all!

I think if you look at true legacy, though, BR eeks out BTW. BTW kinda felt like a guaranteed duh of a hit bc of the hype and such whereas BR was like NOTHING and no one expected it. I remember back then I knew BTW would smash bc of the hype. She could have released damn near anything and it would have smashed. It was a sure fire hit. BR is that song that made everyone see her as a bitch not to f with. She had STAYING power and was more than funny youtube parodies

If you spoke to every person on the planet and told them you were going to say the name of a popstar and you wanted them to tell you the name of the first song by that person that came into their head, the most popular response to the name Lady Gaga would be Poker Face or Shallow, probably Shallow to be honest. It would NOT be Bad Romance.*

If you asked me, my answer would be PF, but BR is my favourite song of the three.

* The above notwithstanding the fact that by the time you've spoken to everyone, Gaga will have written four musicals, three symphonies and will just have been re-elected to serve a second term as president of the New World Order Federation.
