Idk. Angry/bitter people tend to live longer, statistically. They literally fuel themselves on hatred.

Can confirm!

My grandpa was a nice guy. Died at 69.

His mom? Awful. Racist, homophobic, and the meanest woman I've ever met. She nearly made it to 100 :saladga:

Can y'all chill with the death wishes please.

We can all agree she and people like her are vile and the world would be a better place without them, but let's keep our karma intact :gayhat:

Most of us (hopefully all of us) will outlive her. Take comfort in that and use the energy you would have spent spitting on this gross woman to say something supportive about the trans community

This is very true :saladga:

My grandmother used to be fairly liberal for her age… then when her health deteriorated and she started using a laptop in bed most of the time and it’s turned her into one of those crazy, right-wing racists.  It’s horrible to see because she was extremely understanding of other races, my sexuality etc but now she’s just a mean, nasty woman.  How on earth she’s still alive I don’t know, she’s been practically bed bound for ten years surviving off spite for the world.

My worry is that trans rights and awareness of trans issues were coming on such a long way about 6-7 years ago and I fear that there’s a concerted effort by parts of the media to tear the trans community back down.

Trans people were finally being recognised and celebrated on a larger scale and these parts of the media clearly weren’t happy about that. So I feel they are now trying to run this narrative that trans/nb people are a threat to the rights of cis-women in order to generate fear and division.

This is incredibly dangerous for the safety of all types of trans people, please protect your LGBTQ+ friends and family.

Lol y’all remember that one user who would say she’s being openly transphobic because the LGBTQ community was being mean to her? And implying that it was our fault she’s so hateful? Wonder what he thinks about this?

anyway, she’s trash, through-and-through

Twitter should give her the Kanye treatment

That user had a point, though. Although, I don't think it is right to blame a specific community for it. It's more about the results of the current climate on social media and in society.

I absolutely believe that Rowling's radicalisation is partly caused by the hate she got when this first started.

She was wrong and transphobic from the get go - there is no doubt in that - but I don't believe that her initial comments were intentionally vile, hurtful and downright evil like they are now.

I would like to believe she was uneducated. A person, like many conservatives, that would need more time to change their view...

I wouldn't listen either if thousands of people started to send me extremely hateful comments and even death threats

Anyway, when the hate started to happen, she was quickly pushed deeper and deeper in the dark hole...

And found a community in TERF's and the extreme-right.

So, yeah, this is not to support nor blame any party, just my insights into how social processes nowadays work on social media imo and what further harm they can cause without people realizing it.

But I wonder sometimes if this all could have been prevented if someone had reached out to hear to educate her with a more positive tone.....

She’s not a child that needs to be coddled and spoon-fed information tho…

the way she constantly goes out of the way to talk about this issue is incredibly bizarre and cruel. it’s like a psychiatric fixation

Not to mention that she wrote a 1k+ page book this year (under a pen name) about an author that gets murdered because of her anti-trans/racist views... :triggered:

I wonder what could help to change all this, make her realise she is wrong. I want to know how she can be so hateful, but I don't see her do an interview about it.

When did it start exactly? What was the first thing she’s said about trans people that was wrong?

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

That's an interesting way to frame my point...

It's not 'spoon-feeding', it's guiding someone - step by step - to listen, learn and educate themselves.

Social media is powerful though, even adults struggle with radicalisation if they are exposed to and delve into certain topics. It's not just kids who get brainwashed, but yeah she should know better being what I thought was an intelligent person.
