Extremely talented people can be extremely flawed. The Mists of Avalon, for example, was written by Marion Zimmer, a brilliant author who sexually abused her kids.

HP is a masterclass in worldbuilding and comparing it to Twilight and 50 Shades is just cringy.

You know damn well I was talking about the success not a full on comparison

World building, sure, but the storylines? Character development? Dialogue? They're not good books regardless of how good they make you feel.

Can you imagine how miserable it would be living with a banshee who won't stop howling about her critics on Twitter?! :lmao:  Divorce announcement in the coming years, I guarantee it! #FreeNeil :lmao:

Have you read them?

Not some of y'all wishing her death. Get better.

She praises and supports right wing ideology, politicians and institutions that directly cause the misery, suicide and abuse of trans people.  She can rot! :vegas:

I will never understand why someone like her - who was soo incredibly lucky and experienced a once in a lifetime career by becoming a billionaire as authors, admired by millions and as creator of a pop culture changing novels - would choose to spread hate and misery and loose all her credibility, admiration and idol status for something which isn't even concerning her personally. Just enjoy your millions and a life in safety, wealth and health and if you can't contribute anything loving and friendly to nowadays society (who made you rich and beloved to begin with) rant to your poor family or friends if you must ffs.

She / hers

She must be insufferable to have as a mother honestly. Ma’am is a case study for how social media can rot the brain bc even if she still had those opinions before, I feel like social media has just made her even more incel-y about them

Eh they’re mixed in quality for sure, but remember that they’re kids books at their core lmao not even young adult but specifically kids books. That definitely affects the way the story is written and/or constructed but people love to hold it next to LOTR or ASOIAF for some reason lmao

I don’t even respond to people who compare it to grimdark fantasy pieces or Tolkien lol.

What makes HP special is how easy it is to pick up and read, and how much the wizarding world expands and enriches your experience throughout. ASOIAF, Witcher and other adult fantasy novels have great worldbuilding but to many people take *work* to explore.

The worldbuilding in HP is genius precisely because of its apparent simplicity. Hate JK Rowling or not, give credit where credit is due.

It gives me comfort knowing she will probably pass away in my lifetime and I’ll get to raise a glass and celebrate.  May it be slow and painful :vegas:

Idk. Angry/bitter people tend to live longer, statistically. They literally fuel themselves on hatred.

multiple times, yeah.

I think they're good books, not prefect but still impresive. There are definitely interesting storylines and character development. Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, Neville Longbottom, Remus Lupin, to name a few. You're probably just over it. I've read them multiple times as well, and I haven't felt the desire to read them in a while, because it's ennough for now.
