(Against the law to have in Russia). They threw her in jail and sentenced her to 9 years. Extremely harsh and unfair punishment. Biden was pressured to negotiate with Russia (which is controversial right now since they are our enemies and also looked down upon worldly for starting the war with Ukraine). What makes it worst is that we did a prisoner swap. To get her out we let go of a notorious Russian arms dealer who committed serious war crimes. Some US citizens thought we shouldn’t have let him out and let her pay for her “crimes” On top of that, there a millions of people arrested here in the US on petty weed charges who people feel should also be let free, so it screams hypocrisy. They're not a country that respects the rule of law. Even if you don't do anything wrong, you can get arrested for made-up charges. Russians themselves are fleeing.
