kupo 201
Again, have you never watched the show? Celebrities actually do respond, Xtina being one recently, after Kelly and the group made fun of her weight gain. It's ironic, seeing as Kelly was attacked for her weight as well. Kelly is a b---h, period, watch 5 minutes of the show and it's really not a hard conclusion to make. I've seen the show, and it's definitely rooted in insult comedy. And I'm more than willing to entertain arguments about the validity of insult comedy as a genre, but the way she addresses Kelly in this letter is totally backward considering the point she's trying to make. I certainly agree that Gaga has the right (and at this point probably should say) "I can't control my fans." And it's certainly her prerogative and probably smart of her to point out that literally everything she says and does is an attempt to make the very point to her fans that Kelly wanted her to make, so what more can really be asked of her? But she couldn't just do that. She couldn't just point out the logical flaws of Kelly's whining. She had to go a step further and make veiled accusations about the quality of Kelly's character. It would even be one thing to simply point out the nature of Fashion Police, but Gaga doesn't just do that. She lobs actual lightly-disguised attacks. (again, the statement about seeing her become a "slender, beautiful woman" who rags on people being "astounding" is all sorts of petty in the way it's fashioned as an almost-compliment). Both women are being sort of short-sighted and hypocritical here.
Galactic Mess 1,393
after watching this I wish Kelly was dragged in Azealia Banks style tbh. Oh my God that was really mean!! Which one is Kelly?
Saint Laurent 4,862
I can't at people blaming Gaga for this saga. Kelly criticises people for a living. You know what really pisses me off? It's never Gaga that causes the trouble. What do all of these people really have against her?

Americano 31,061
Laugh all you want but Gaga CANNOT take a moral high ground about not promoting violence. Bullying is one form of violence and wearing fur is another. Violence is violence she cannot say that she is 100% trying to present a positive image of kindness because she isn't. Fur is not kindness. I love Gaga to death but she can't go taking a moral high ground on violence. Sorry Well, your entire argument is irrelevant. You can't tell someone to not defend themselves because of how they dress. And yeah, the attempt to link the two is laughable in itself. bumblebee 2,528
Sorry but Gaga is really misguided with this one, as kind of a person as she is she cannot accuse someone else of "promoting violence" when she openly wears fur which promotes violence towards animals. The media will pick up on this fact so will the public and so will Kelly. Her intentions are right but she can't condemn someone for promoting violence when she wears it. Sorry but it's true. :( By using this logic we can go further and say that anyone who is not vegetarian is a bloody murderer and is not even permitted to say anything on this topic. What is the f*cking difference between wearing fur and eating meat? Non. People can live without consuming meat products (look at all the vegetarians) so it means they are killing animals on wild purpose. And I don't think every journalist and anybody involved into the discussion of this letter is not wearing fur/eating meat/using animal products like leather. Please leave the fur away. It's not the deal here. The woman who has been b---hy towards Gaga and other celebrities now is pretending to be offended by offending many people. Yes, being in a show like that is her job, but it's a small excuse - can't she find another one or at least be less hypocritical ?

That's a stretch as saying all those who eat meat, buy cars with leather seats, or use down pillows promote violence. There is something to say about someone's character when they have a career based on insulting others, tearing them down based on their weight and attire. Lady Gaga has the star-power and credibility to call someone out on things like that, and she did. This is one of the few moments in the past few years that I'm 100% behind Gaga and proud of her. What... You're going to tie this mess with Gaga's fur controversy? Is that really promoting violence directly? That's a stretch as saying all those who eat meat, buy cars with leather seats, or use down pillows promote violence. Yeah, I don't even know. Failed attempt at blaming Gaga. It's literally delusional to think the two arguments go together.

DrewStevens 5,249
Monsters should stop hating her. She's not even that famous. kupo 201
But she said right in the letter that she was not trying to speak badly about her character, just her actions. Did you even read the letter??? I did read the letter. And just because she says she's not trying to speak badly about her character doesn't make it so. That's not how rhetoric works. That's sort of like when people say, "I'm not racist but..." and then say something racist. Or when they say, "no offense..." and then say something meant to offend. In fact, again, that's what makes the letter come off especially poorly. Because what Gaga probably *wanted* to do (simply defend her own character and note that she can't control her fans) is perfectly understandable. But while she tries to couch it that way, it comes across as a returned insult.

You could be the biggest star in the world or a complete loser on my street corner, but that doesn't give you the right to tear down others for no reason.
