socotra 3,310 Posted November 27, 2022 Share Posted November 27, 2022 Lover has higher highs than Midnights (Cornelia Street, Death by a Thousand Cuts, Daylight, Lover), but Midnights is much more consistent and doesn't have the major duds that Lover has (th atrocity that was Me! for example) personally, I prefer Lover's vibe tho. Midnights only has 1 song that hits the same way the aforementioned Lover songs do (Would've Could've Should've). the whole album sorta feels like blue balls to me – lots of great potential that ultimately doesn't really go anywhere. it feels like a half-cooked album, one that serves its purpose but doesn't reach the same highs of her previous albums. i think it's certainly her most boring pop album, and doesn't hold a candle to the pop perfection that was Reputation, nor does it come close to sad boi Folklore/Evermore. it's the definition of mid imo – nothing amazing, but i also can't say it's bad. just v average and forgettable Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
