I get that TikTok is her only hope but ma'am she talks about it like she gets paid per every mention of it :deadbanana:

TikTok doesn't pay much. 1 million views on TikTok is about $8 and 100,000 videos made with artist's music about $150.

At the end of the day, if this is what makes her happy and makes her money, why should we judge her for it? Labels basically encourage their artists to make TikTok friendly music these days anyway. Meghan's music is all about fun and TikTok's inception supports this concept, so why not run with it? Not all music needs to be super serious and artsy, it can be happy and silly and there's a market for everything. A lot of her recent music especially is catchy and makes me happy. Whether it's popular on TikTok or not is irrelevant, as long as it connects somewhere and if that somewhere is TikTok, why does that make it any less meaningful?

The other day my ex sent a song to me he found via TikTok.. the whole track was only 60 seconds long :air: inb4 1 minute songs become the "new" 2:25. This sucks.

This is the only thing I worry about with quick, fast consumed content. Everyone wants the next thing before it's even released, because their attention span can't keep up with enjoying the actual release. :enigma:

I'm worried songs will keep getting shorter and shorter, and the passion of actually making the music deceases, they're only making that music to get it popular on an app.

I want to actually enjoy the music. No one @ me with Ari's tweet saying "play it again" :saladga:

This was my gripes with series and shows being released all at once. Just watched Wednesday and I thought it was gonna release weekly or something, I feel like I'm gonna forget it after 3 days cause I just binged it in one afternoon :saladga:

Nah songs are expensive to make. They won’t waste money to make a 1-minute track. What we’re seeing is more of hook stuffing so there’s more shots at *something from the song catching on. I think things will trend towards 3-3.5 minutes again but be chock full of hooks ala early Gaga. Look at a song like Alejandro or telephone. Longer, sure, but their verses are SHORT and the hooks are repeated like 20-30 times lmao. And they became iconic for it. I think that’s the blueprint after an extended period of fairly hook-lite music.

Even look at Renaissance where a lot of the songs are longish. VERY hook-heavy tracks. It’s something that was p popular in the 90s especially with hip hop and I think we’re heading that way again but even those songs were about 3.5 or longer. Granted that was to appeal to radio, but appealing to streaming is honestly not *that different tbh
