ProdigyARTPOP 3,909
Yeah she profited it, because she was able to be a part of whatever deal was negotiated, Taylor didn’t make any money off the masters sales of her albums because it was sold to Scooter then Shamrock Holdings without her consent or chance for purchase. She still however has always made a super chunk of profit from the singles, album tracks and royalties from said albums even while no longer under Big Machine. A situation like Taylor’s and Iggy’s can’t be compared because as Iggy mentioned, she makes more money off her independent releases than her first records and she sold the masters off those beginning records for a large sum because she knows that money will keep her afloat forever as she’s not in a position where she gets the most royalties and sales since she’s not a hot commodity anymore or a huge writer on all her tracks and Taylor still is a hot commodity and owns the majority of publishing/composition for her albums
Cameltoe Chariot 15,229
Nothing irks me more than these armchair CEO stans on twitter thinking they know their way around label negotiations she schooled them and she's 100% correct.

Additionally so she wouldn't have to tour as much. But she's a much larger touring act while Iggy really only does festivals and her tours with Pitbull. iirc Gaga makes like 16% off a music sale (excl. picture discs).
RichAssPiss 4,929
Artists have rarely made much money from music in the modern age. It's all in touring , merch, and brand deals. Masters are more profitable for song placements in in ads and movies than for selling/streaming residuals. That's why Taylor's been refusing to clear any of her old catalog for music placements and seeking out placements for mastrs that she owns to rub it in their faces.
Taylucifer 5,154
yeah this has been Taylor's whole campaign, artists should be able to control what happens to their work, happy for Iggy! 'The Life of a Showgirl' is out on Oct
