RAMROD 118,072
After less than a year in retirement, Bob Iger has returned as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company. The board just sent out a notice that Bob I. is back and recently re-upped Bob Chapek is out. “I am deeply honored to be asked to again lead this remarkable team, with a clear mission focused on creative excellence to inspire generations through unrivaled, bold storytelling,” Iger wrote tonight in an email to staffers. Disney’s Bob Iger reached out to House of Mouse employees Sunday with the shocking news that he’s replacing Bob Chapek as chief executive, effectively immediately, noting “an incredible sense of gratitude and humility—and, I must admit, a bit of amazement.” He’s not the only one. Some high profile missteps had Wall Streeters and industry insiders questioning Chapek’s future at the company but those voices grew more muted after Disney’s board of directors appeared to settle the question by voting in June, unanimously, to renew his original contract, which expired in February 2023, with a new three-year agreement that started July 1. “Bob is the right leader at the right time for The Walt Disney Company, and the Board has full confidence in him and his leadership team,” the board led by Susan Arnold said in a statement then. Chapek’s abrupt termination follows Disney’s below par fiscal fourth-quarter financial results two weeks ago hobbled by streaming losses and ongoing fan unrest over theme park pricing. https://deadline.com/2022/11/bob-iger-walt-disney-bob-chapek-1235178260/ https://deadline.com/2022/11/disney-bob-iger-returns-ceo-bob-chapek-out-1235178223/ Thank goodness, Chapek's directions really turns Disney estate bad lately. I got very concerned There is only one Bob for Disney, and that is Zaddy Eiger! GipJo 2,912
Unless they cut most their poorly made, quantity over quality, weak scripted Marvel and Star War shows and movies and focus on making quality contents, I doubt he can do much about the direction Disney is heading. Well, I personally have no doubt he will look into those. The best 10 years of MCU were under his leadership

Bob Iger was partly brought into the company in the first place because he is a stickler for quality. He ushered in an era of Disney that was led with the quality first, budget be damned mindset. He's well aware of the assets Disney has and he's not afraid to use them. I think his first change is going to be to the Disney parks. There has been a noticeable decline in quality within them recently, and I think he's going to focus on returning them to their glory just like he did when he was first CEO. He's a good multitasker though, so I think he'll play close attention to what's happening with their film and Disney+ developments as well. Bob Iger saved the Disney company from ruin in the early 2000s after the firing of Michael Eisner. I'm sure he's plenty capable of doing it again because he is not afraid to put the money down to create good quality projects. Chapeck was afraid to spend anything while charging insane amounts. Karl 3,584
So happy with this, Chapek has decimated the quality of the theme parks with Genie + and price increases among other things, hope iger focuses on the parks first.

All of the Star Wars shows had been grenlit and written, if not even filmed, when Iger retired. Disney's board isn't worried so much about it's content, but more about its PR. It looks like they're creating enough Star Wars content to keep one show in rotation at all times, and I don't think that's a strategy they'll move away from unless the shows are received badly or subscriber growth drops. I think they could do well by maturing their streaming platform into something better than Apple's media player and slowing its release schedule for MCU. Mostly user experience rather than content. Deadpool 1+2 and Netflix Marvel series are on D+. She-Hulk was TV-14, which I believe this was the first marvel show not to be suitable for under 13, it was pretty sexual for Disney lol (like that question about Cap) So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

zakariah 11,787
can't believe i'm saying this as a marvel fan but Iger needs to get Feige in his office asap and speak about the direction of the mcu because the phase 4 films & shows have honestly been the weakest set of entertainment in the mcu since phase 1, apart from shang-chi, wandavision, loki, spider-man: no way home and black panther: wakanda forever, the other projects have been quite lackluster & underwhelming

Let’s hope she still does a Disney movie at some point though.
