Ivy 12,589 Posted November 21, 2022 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Joanne along with TFM I personally think are best production I think a lot of fans disagree, and say that Joanne is "overproduced" but I think it's so well done. On good speakers her voice shines above everything and the whole album has a "warm quality" which is really beautiful. There aren't any points that I can think of where I'm wondering why this choice or thinking something sounds wrong. It's like, immaculate Altho I love Chromatica, it's actually at the last of my list production wise. It's her first album where I am listening and like noticing places where I question the choices.. there's multiple spots that have an "empty" sound, and not in an interesting way (certain part of Free Woman and 1000 Doves comes to mind). There are some songs on the album that feel like they could've been better production wise, like John Wayne, Dancin' in Circles etc. It felt as if they wanted to go somewhere but failed. The songs are great don't get me wrong, but the production on the chorus lays flat.
