How many of them are purchased though? How many of them are the result of members voting to nominate her instead of other people, a la the academy voting to give an Oscar to someone else instead of Gaga because they “thought everyone else was going to vote for Gaga”.

She's in pop and country categories, which are way more competitive than Beyonce's R&B, Rap or Dance categories. This applies to Adele, too.

Jokes aside, congrats to Bey 

She's a very acclaimed musician who has literally no competition in her field and came out at the right time where Grammy's were no longer too snobby to award R&B artists (the Mariah Carey only has like 5) but also not too generous to recognize up-and-coming artists. I'm not saying this is not well-deserved though. 

That being said I feel the need to recognize that the Grammy's used her with plenty of unreasonable nominations (they'll do the same to Gaga for the next 10 years) to avoid criticism of not being diverse enough - A mistake they can finally mend by giving Renaissance AOTY
