I can't believe I'm going to defend her as she's rather milquetoast (tho I'm still happy a Dem won), but Nevada was in a uniquely weird situation with COVID shutdowns (as in, the entire industry was basically shut down). Even the fairly liberal unions were mostly advocating to re-open a la Florida and she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. A lot of people think that's why the Governor lost (COVID shut downs), as Governors were even more involved in COVID regulations.

*For the reason, I was very much in favor of COVID shut downs at the height of the pandemic.

This. We need Georgia so Manchin and Sinema will have far less power. Also, Sinema is so screwed though lol. Gallegos is going to challenge her, and as someone on twitter said he's a center left, Iraq vet, gives of 'normie vibes', sort of big (not tall, but broad shouldered) Latino man...he's tailor made for those swing-y Arizona voters who have some Republican tendencies but identify more with Democratic candidates. I think some of the people who ran Bernie & Liz's campaigns were liking tweets about him challenging her, too, so it sort of feels like he's one of those candidates who could basically tie everyone from the left to the center together in Arizona.

Let’s just hope he wouldn’t turn out to be like Sinema if he got into the senate!  🙄😒

Girl please, she did the best she could. The governor was dragging her down and lost his election. Don't pin it on her please. The environment was very hostile. Nevada has record high gas prices and inflation. We should be grateful to her. She exceeded all expectations and remember Nevada has been trending red lately.

I don't think they can "uncodify" something once it's done that way. However, I do think they can appeal it through the Supreme Court. From what I've read, the Supreme Court is going to want to put the power back to the states. But if we have a federal law that says abortion is legal, states cannot make a law saying the opposite. It's all a big mess, I just know we need House majority now to really make some impact. There are some republicans that believe in abortion/reproductive rights though.

Stock markets love a split congress, because they expect nothing significant to get done.   sigh. But this is certainly better than having republicans control both senate and house.

Now the Fed just has to stop raising interest rates and companies have to stop raising product prices. China has to reopen production. Russia needs to withdraw from Ukraine and pay reparations.  Easy stuff.

It's so depressing that we have to push to get out the vote in the U.S. not for progress but just to stave off a rise in fascism. And that even the opposing party is pretty much sitting on their hands and doing very little to stop it.

I hear you on this. And honestly, I know he's not super popular...but I do believe President Biden has the best for our nation in mind and will GO there on reform. I believe in Joe!

I don’t give a damn and nobody owes her ****. I’m not going to baby the literal most powerful people in our country. Democrats need to learn how get ahead of messaging. The only reason why high gas prices, inflation, and COVID have hurt democrats is because they LET those issues hurt them. If independents and apolitical people are for some reason blaming democrats it’s because they are winning the messaging game. We are lucky that the Supreme Court was dumb enough to threaten roe v wade and Trump endorses lunatics, otherwise there would be no energy in the Democratic Party right now.

The problem with this is what's happening in Kentucky right now. The voters supported a measure to protect abortion rights but a guy who's running for governor next year has already said he's going to ignore it and/or challenge it in the state's courts to ban abortion entirely.

So the SCOTUS' ruling is highly ridiculous in that regard 'cause sending it back to the states is just as good as banning it.

Codifying it does a couple things to protect abortion rights.

1) It can only be struck down again by the SCOTUS but I kinda doubt they'd do that a second time

2) Ensures that Republicans would have to win the house, senate, and presidency to repeal that codification and ban abortion

3) To repeal a law you need a 2/3rds vote which means abortion rights would be protected until Republicans got a supermajority in the senate. Even then it'd be a prayer for them 'cause after this midterm, they're gonna ease off the gas when it comes to that issue. They have to, otherwise 2024 is gonna be even better for Democrats

Democrats suck at messaging, that's true, but what was good about this election is we realized many Americans can tell the difference between a bad economy and a good economy in a bad time.

The whole world is struggling atm and we're arguably doing better than most places. It seems most voters understand not only that but also that the GOP had zero plans to tackle the struggles we do have.

They also understood that Republicans spent their campaigns attacking children, the LGBT community, women, immigrants, and black Americans.

Paying a little extra for gas >>>>> destroying the lives of every non-white/cis/het/male.

This whole thing really gave me hope that America isn't truly lost, just going through a bump
