dit 46,738
It has been the dream of women – and men – for centuries. Now scientists say they have found a way to reverse the ageing process in human skin. Researchers in Cambridge reveal they've reprogrammed skin cells from people aged 38 and 53 to make them 'younger' by 30 years. The method rewinds the ageing clock further than previous reprogramming methods without damaging the cells. (Red is collagen or something and as we age the collagen fades but these scientists were able to refill the red essentially making cells remember how to produce more of it like it used to when they were young.) 'Our results represent a big step forward in our understanding of cell reprogramming,' said Dr Diljeet Gill at the Babraham Institute. 'We have proved that cells can be rejuvenated without losing their function and that rejuvenation looks to restore some function to old cells. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-10696535/Scientists-reverse-ageing-human-cells-30-years.html 'The fact that we also saw a reverse of ageing indicators in genes associated with diseases is particularly promising for the future of this work.' dit 46,738
sorry I just noticed I put this in Gaga Thoughts section. I am sorry moderators I guess we can say it can apply to Gaga because now she can extend her careers even more by shaving off 30 years! Ageism who?! lol

dit 46,738
It is important to note that this was specifically for skin. So they were able to reverse cells to function as if they were 30 years younger which would make them able to produce collagen like when skin is young which is AMAZING BUT similar studies to this have also been able to de-age eyes! There was a study done and it was a success in reversing some type of aging related diseases on the eyes but they were only done on rats whereas this skin study is on humans which is AMAZING. I pray this stuff is fine tuned and released to the masses by the time we hit our 60s+ lol. Otherwise we would miss out on some of the most amazing advancements in human history. People born in the year 2100 are going to low key be LUCKY AF with how far things will get (if the planet survives by then of course lol)

Joshie S 6,556
This is quite interesting.. however I worry with scientists playing God, what effect that will have on the human body if we go around boosting our cells with collagen... I watched videos of the doctors conducting these researches and they said they view aging as a disease. They said, humans should not accept ageing just because it is popular. They said their goal though isn't to extend life. It's just to make the later years of a human's life span enjoyable whether it be by reversing aging on skin which in some ways disfigures humans because we become "old and "uglier"" and also get more skin related diseases or whether it be reversing the quality of our organs to combat illness etc. they said if prolonging life is a side effect of this research that would be cool but it is not their goal. Their goal is simply to make those last like 30-40 years of our life span more productive and enjoyable by reversing aging of certain functions of certain organs. So far they are doing really well with skin and eyes! Hope they can do the same for other organs which weaken significantly with age!
