So if she wants to own them, she has to re-record like Taylor?

I think it depends on her contracts. Taylor Swift's re-recording thing is a separate issue related to the person who actually bought her masters and not wanting him to make money from them. Most cases it's a negotiation and purchasing process.

It’s unlikely she owns her masters. She could always negotiate with interscope to try to buy them, but there’s little incentive for the label to sell, unless they charged an exorbitant amount of money. But if he contract is up and they wanted  to stay on the label, it could be something they offer her or that’s negotiated. It also open to any artist to re-record but unless she wanted to declare war on her current label it wouldn’t make sense.

Sometimes it takes a while until the Masters are open for sale, I think Mariah Carey just bought hers within the last few years - but owned her 2001 release Glitter for much longer.

Imagine the price she had to pay for it...

I don't think so, she only re-records demos.

It is, but the label sold her masters to a private person and not to another label or to her and without even telling her, she woke up one day and discovered it in the news with everybody else, so this is why she felt was wrong.

Scooter had no right to just buy her masters without consulting her first.

The reason I don't believe this is that Taylor's father is a shareholder and they were made aware of the situation AND voted on the sale of her master's. She could have made her own offer at any point in those 5 days. And she could have bought herself into the company years prior. She could have re-negotiated her contract or negotiated her masters at any point since becoming an adult. But she never did.

I don't think so. And I don't think Interscope would want her signed at the label if she owned all the masters.
