Sorry if there’s been a similar thread, but this random thought just came up. I think in an interview someone asked her about her music catalogue and her PR assistant cut the interview. So does she own her music or?

She doesn’t own her own masters but because she has writing credits in all her songs she earns publishing royalties

No, but from the leaked documents we saw last year, it was clear that her publishing rights are very strong. For example, she owns 50% of Shallow, which is a lot of money :vegas:

The leaked documents last year were such a blessing for little managers

No but she can pull a LG's version if she left Interscope. Question is, would she re-record ARTPOP if she did re-record her music?

No. It's actually very uncommon for singers to own their masters when signed to a major label unless they're self-managed and have contract loopholes.

So if she wants to own them, she has to re-record like Taylor?

It is, but the label sold her masters to a private person and not to another label or to her and without even telling her, she woke up one day and discovered it in the news with everybody else, so this is why she felt was wrong.

Scooter had no right to just buy her masters without consulting her first.
