Adele says we've been pronouncing her name wrong this whole time

Adele reveals most fans have been mispronouncing her name as she reveals it’s not ud-dell but uh-dale because of her north London accent.

Speaking during Happy Hour with Adele with Benito Skinner after her 'I Drink Wine' music video was released, one fan asked her about writing 30 and her journey to self-love. The fan, talking on a video, happened to nail the pronunciation of her name in the process, leaving Adele impressed.

Referring to an area near where she was born she said: 'Where's she from, Enfield? She said my name perfectly!' The mother-of-one then said that she prefers people to call her 'uh-dale' instead of 'uh-dell', staying true to her North London roots and accent.

It makes sense if you have a non-rhotic (r-dropping) accent

I think Sade = Shar-day and they just left out the Adu.

I always that it was - shaw-day because of spelling in her native language.  I don't know where the R comes from though.

Maybe it’s my ‘American accent’ but when I say her name either way it sounds the same…even when I make a conscience effort to say it phonetically. But lll be seeing queen on opening night so however I say her name she has my coins ugh

If there only was a way to efficiently represent the right pronunciation  for any given name without actually hearing the person say it….
