I mean... who else??? The only one that has really brought it is Beyonce. And next in line is Gaga.

And before you guys get it mixed up, this is not something about sales and marketing. This is about artistry and talent. Kthanxbye

Tbh no one else... It's weird that many folks absolutely needs "a new X ..." or  "the X of this generation" for each older legend even when there's no valid comparison to make.

But MJ was writing large parts of his music that was excellent. Bey makes really great music too but not quite largely by herself. So for artistry and talent as well no one comes close with their work atm imo.  👋

I agree with you.

MJ's main musical strength, imo, was his ability to produce. While other artists might convey feelings through words (which he also did), he would communicate sonically.

Every little sound, every note, just knowing that the majority of it was beatboxed or hummed into a recorder at one point makes it personal...idk. Every blip on the sound profile has a purpose and represents a conscious thought or active collaboration between him, his people, and "the dance".

The guy was a genius  no one will ever match him.

However, Beyonce is also extremely culturally important. She innovates, she's an amazing entertainer, if there was anyone that came close to MJ in that sense, it'd be her imo.

I think Gaga is the closest creatively and personally. I wish she'd stretch her producer legs more often.

It's kind of funny how it takes multiple modern icons to make up facets of MJ's image but that's why he was, is, and will always be the king :diane:

So do you think that any of the active male popstars deserves or has earned the title of King of Pop??? Beyonce is a she, but she is more of a King than any other male popstar active right now.

Exactly and that's why there's actually no serious "MJ of his generation" even if some tried with Chris brown, Mars, Bey, the Weekend and will surely try with many others...

Thank you. Like it’s not impact (though here is actually huge in its own right) it’s artistry. And let’s face facts that Beyoncé has had a near unparalleled level of critical output for a DECADE. If you’re going to really be honest with yourself and try to be objective, it’s Beyoncé. I mean, most artists dream of one album like the run she’s had. She has 4 (counting b-day). And her style clearly impacted like every artist around now. It’s undeniable though obvi not the same as MJ bc frankly that’s impossible with how much media saturation there is. Hell, MJ would probably have said it himself hahaha who else is bringing the whole package ljke she does

Can confirm. He was a Beyonce stan and had an enormous crush on her.

Even went to Jay-Z's parties and immediately asked where she was. Every time lol
