Midterms 2022: Discussion

Dennis

Featured Posts

So midterms are happening next Tuesday, and I'm honestly terrified. I'm seeing polls that Democrats might even lose New Hampshire, New York and Washington.

So republicans move to abolish abortion and nullify democratic election results and they might get rewarded with a staggering majority instead of facing backlash for their extremism. At the same time, they're supporting Putin because he made all this possible for them with his war and its effect on energy prices. Sadly, a lot of average citizens don't give a damn about democracy or women rights, all they care about is gas prices.

Democrats obviously share a lot of the blame for failing to act strongly enough, act preemptively on many issues including abortion, voting rights and even the threat of Russian aggression. But we all know the alternative is much much worse.

I hope everyone goes out and vote! If you haven't made such plans, please do so!

They’re not losing Washington. The race is tightening but polls showing a neck-and-neck race are primarily Republican backed. The reality is that we’re probably looking at Murray winning by 5 points instead of 10+

The reality is that polls reflect likely voters, and because of Roe being overturned there's a lot of unlikely voters that aren't being polled. All we can do now is VOTE!

The dem party is in shambles due to having an identity crisis and focusing too much on social issues that the greater majority of Americans aren’t focused on. When will they learn that you have to focus on the biggest issues FIRST (economy, crime, healthcare etc), and then when you win elections, you can pass legislation on other issues that are divisive. Instead the president is taking on Ticketmaster fees so that young people can afford to go concerts.

Dems will lose the House.

And it’s looking like the Senate will be a toss up.

This isn't accurate though :laughga:

Dems ARE addressing real issues. Gun violence, inflation, supply line issues, corporate price gouging (including Ticketmaster), and rights like the right to vote as well as smaller things like legalizing weed. The GOP votes down everything they can.

It's the Repukes that fan the flames of the culture war.

You can't blame the Democrats when they're constantly fielding questions/statements like "what is a woman?" or "LGBT are grooming children!" while they try to speak to their constituents about real issues that impact them.

So let's put that blame where it's due.

And also, even if the economy is struggling (like every other economy in the world), we 100% should not ignore the fact that the GOP has killed women's right to body autonomy and they're passing some of the most devastating anti-LGBT laws we've seen in decades.

The Dem platform needs those issues too to galvanize voters.

Those are all real issues. But I would argue that they arent the issues that matter most to the left. Gun violence matters, but do most democrats want gun reform enough to make a difference in how they vote (if they even bother to vote)? For the right, yes it is. The left? Not so much. Is price gouging an issue that will mobilize democrats? I don’t think so. Weed? Same.

The crazy part of it is that I truly believe that most Americans on both sides want the same thing. To be able to live safely and make a living. The right has done a much better job at sending the message that they will do that better then the left on THOSE issues, and that is why they thrive despite the absolute disaster they are otherwise.

If republicans win the house there will be no more aid sent to Ukraine.

I live outside the space time continuum.
