Elon Musk has notified co-investors who committed to help fund his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter Inc that he plans to close his buyout of the social media firm by Friday, Oct. 28. Equity investors, including Sequoia Capital, Binance, Qatar Investment Authority and others have received the requisite paperwork for the financing commitment from Musk's lawyers.

Elon Musk posted an open letter to advertisers on the the social network — seeking to calm their nerves that he won’t turn Twitter into a fever swamp of misinformation and hate speech.

In the letter, posted to Twitter on Thursday morning, Musk said most of the speculation about why he’s buying Twitter has been wrong. “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,” the tech mogul wrote.

Musk claimed he’s buying Twitter not “to make more money” but to “try to help humanity, whom I love.”

“Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!” Musk wrote.

Phaye Monster

This is sad, I enjoy being an anonymous account with a Gaga profile picture who never tweets, just likes memes

Twitter has always been the funny social media and he’s going to take that away

I'm an ARTPOP bitch, baby

This is bad. This is really bad.

as an engineer who is interested in space science and neurology I follow his projects with high dedication. But the more he tweets, the uglier he gets.

It’s also a very dystopian direction we’re all headed where literally the richest man owns one of the largest avenues for free expression and has the power to mend and change rules as he pleases.

The richest man in the world said this :ladyhaha: If he cared for humanity he wouldn't be a billionaire, The amount of labor and suffering that's been used to fill his pockets is insane.
