First off, I think it's cool that even though the scene is changed the effect has remained the same. It still expresses the same idea.

Second, I'm of the opinion she should have just stood on it and her artistic expression. I'm fat, but I'm aware that thin people get called fat all the time, just because they're not rail thin. It contributes to their self-image issues and EDs. This especially holds true for celebrities, any fluctuation in weight leads to pregnancy rumors or tabloids straight up calling them fat.

This! Still gives the same message just no "FAT" which honestly, was funnier :ladyhaha:

And she should've stood her ground. I related and laughed so much to that scene because it's true. Why else do you think you're on a scale? Because you are scared of putting on weight!! The word fat is also tricky as it can be used as an insult but come on, it was clearly not used that way in the mv. Fat is when you are fat, it's a description word by default, it is also personal and subjective. Taylor is also skinny, her version of fat is way different for me and I understand that, so I don't know why her 'fans' took it so seriously.

It’s not like it’s a huge deal but I absolutely hate this culture that can bully someone into changing their creating just because they don’t “like” it and want to throw a childish tantrum. The original video was fine, those people don’t have enough actual problems and way too much free time.

Mess. Just because she's rich doesn't mean she doesn't have real life issues. She had insecurities and an eating disorder, it's a way to express what she was going through. This is not like Lizzo or Beyoncé removing the word spaz because it's offensive but I guess they responded quick. She likes to keep people happy so that's something.

Everyone is so sensitive lately.

I'm not skinny but I don't find the scene offensive. Everyone is allowed to feel certain ways and if that's how she sees herself and wants to show it through her art, she should be allowed to do so.

I wish celebrities would rather explain their actions and stick to them rather than appease to an angry twitter mob with ridiculous expectations.

I understand that the fear of being called fat is fatphobic or even the fear of gaining weight is fatphobic but I think those activits overreacted

Fatphobia is definitely a reach I have to agree but there still was a trigger point. She basically says that she healed by knowing that she isn’t fat. Which suggest that being “fat” is bad. She should’ve just said that she now accepts her body how it is and leave it at that.

Also the message still stands with how its edited now. I don’t agree why people call her “weak” for editing this. I don’t understand people saying it’s exagerated and stuff. Like it wasn’t just one person that was triggered. What gives you the right to tell a person she shouldn’t be triggered about it? Since the scene still works in the MV, we can all agree that the “FAT” was an unnecessary part. So be happy for the people that it triggered.

I don’t get why people are upset about something that doesn’t concern them. Afterall we as, mostly, lgbt people should understand that?

What does it change in your life? What does it change in the MV? Why can’t you be happy that now less people are triggered?

It amazes me how fast everyone jumps when a lgbt or race issue is called out (which is great don’t get me wrong). But there is always something about fatphobia were people are still distant and thoughtful.

Because they create ridiculous situations like this that makes no one take them seriously. You can feel how you feel and I won’t tell you not to feel that way, but what Taylor did is simply not on the same level as racism/homophobia etc.

As someone considered as skinny and who deal w anorexia and bulimia issues, I’m kinda sad they edited, especially after what she said about her body image in her documentary. It’s not against « fat » peoples, it was about body dismorphia and that was pretty clear.

literally what I said at the beginning. I said I wouldn’t say she is Fatphobic. My point was just that now that its changed, I don’t get why everyone keeps making drama out of it. Literally everyone who said “don’t make a big deal out of it” now makes a big deal out of it.
It hurts nobody that its changed now. Just leave it at that. As I said, we should know best how it is when people mind in our business. Just let people have their triggers. I personally am overweight too, I didn’t feel attacked by Taylor or anything, but I can understand that some people did. And if by a change more people can enjoy the video without changing its meaning, that’s a benefit for everyone?

And her point still stand in the edited video. They didn’t cut out the scene completely, just the “fat” part. We still get the narrative and the message
