But it doesn't make sense to me to be a fan of her, yet you don't like her music? That music is literally her life. Every single song she's ever written has a purpose and so much meaning, and I love each song for what it is and what the intention behind it may have been. Some fans are selective and that's ok, but I choose to love every gift she has given the world because that's what I cherish the most. So yeah, again I’ve never hated any of her songs, and I think I’ve been able to enjoy them all at one point, but looking back now it seems I’ve overhyped her discography and there’s not much that actually stands out. I’m saying this as a fan of many artists, when I compare her stuff to theirs most of it seems the same in terms of quality and edge. It seems that she shines best outside of her discography (for example in live performances).
Noah 26,928
I think its slowly getting a more accurate rating with a few Songs going viral here or there on Tiktok. To be honest, outside of the Popfans most people have not listened to full Gaga Albums except TFM (Deluxe) and ASIB. If more people listened to her Albums, they'd be able to appreciate her artistry and her sonic changes more. I hope her great discography that offers something to everyone is getting a better, more accurate rating from the GP one day. ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡
Controversiaga 10,240
She raised the bar with TFM. BTW matched its level. But we haven’t got anything like that since. And I think the GP agrees- since her memorable hits today are from her first 3 albums plus Shallow. Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
Edonis 28,950
Literally where? Critics nor the GP consistently hold her discography to the high standards and it’s reflected in both her reviews and reception by the public. If anything, she’s more underrated. Yaaaas Gaga 886
Quite the opposite. I think Gaga's discography is criminally underrated. What I would agree with, however, is that the studio versions of her songs are almost never as good as her live performances, which is only testament to her as a performer. Like the studio version of Paparazzi is a bit 'blah' to me, however the VMA 2009 live version is next level artistry. Same with Marry the Night, I love the studio version, but her live performances of that song, coupled with the dark themes and imagery is pure genius. There's no doubt about it, the creativity and artistry that goes on in that woman's head is rivalled by very few throughout the history of music; the challenge for her is translating that into the music she puts out. thisguyN 616
Considering her caliber of talent and artistry, I think her discography is not her strongest suit. I know every word to all her songs, and love listening to her albums but honestly I think she could have created higher quality and timeless lyrics and compositions, delve into subjects at a deeper level as a musician, with more cutting productions…at the price of less commercialization. As it is now, it is great but not that spectacular that people from future generations would listen and say “wow she changed the whole pop music landscape”. I mean think of Stupid Love. Cute…

Cute… This is exactly my take. When it comes to Chromatica for example, I can really only think of Chromatica II / 911 that sounds super interesting. The lyrics, the vocals, the instrumental is very top notch. Now compare it to Plastic Doll, Stupid Love… even songs like Enigma and Rain On Me are great (and I love listening to them) but I’d never bring them up when calling Gaga a visionary artist. Same thing with Joanne, I actually can’t think of a single song on that album I’d call groundbreaking. Her music brings me joy of corse, but I’d like to see her do something more with her solo music than pump out pop albums with one or two discussion worthy songs. It’s been 11 years since BTW and she’s yet to really release a more groundbreaking album (even though we can all agree she has the ability to). Rebel 5,221
Sadly yes a bit. Exhibit A: the people that think ARTPOP is her best and want a sequel to that If she kept the same quality and concept execution from her first two albums it would’ve been an amazing discography. ASIB soundtrack included cause it has some of her best ballads.
HotLikeMexico 5,022
I had this conversation with my friends the other day. I partly agree with you. But I also have to look at it from the lens thats she’s a mainstream artist and and has to still slightly restrain herself in order to appeal to the masses. Gaga has yet to be fully experimental with her music. Experimental is loosely used in this fan base. Experimental isn’t ARTPOP, experimental is something that I think this fan base ain’t ready for. djBuffoon 12,075
I think she's actually underrated outside of the fanbase. But definitely, songs like "Stupid Love" are beneath her ability.
