But anti-semitists inherently believe that everyone else secretly holds the same views they do. They're narcissistic in that they believe everyone has been slighted by the Jews and that we all hold some grudge against them. Adidas history is not a secret, and I don't doubt for a moment that he believed it would mean they give him a pass.
