EGOT2027 10,893 Posted October 24, 2022 Share Posted October 24, 2022 i’m not one of those people who says critics have no purpose (at least i’m not quite there yet lmao) but i’ll never understand why critics who clearly don’t take pop music seriously in the first place bother reviewing big pop albums. if you go into it thinking pop music is already a “lesser” art form, then what is the freaking point? this review really only says good things about the album, but then gives it a 7 without explanation because of the constant elitist pitchfork view that if a lot of people are enjoying something, it must be a “lesser” art form. never forget what they did with ARTPOP!! Reviews are way more supportive than they used to be several years ago ( Chromatica having a higher metacritic score than TFM ) so folks are surprised when one doesn't ADORE and put a 9 or 10 on any good project. That’s also something I, as a huge fan of Gaga or Taylor, never understood. Why do I care about the review of some critcs. The only thing that counts for me is: do I enjoy the music?
